The loop

One loop, not a pile of features

Vocabulary, grammar and dictation aren't separate modules. They grow out of what you read, and flow back into your next reading.

STEP 01

Read: written for your level

Pick your level and a topic, and a short reading appears in seconds. Grammar in each sentence can be labelled in place, so you learn it where you meet it.

  • CEFR-graded, A1 to C1
  • Tap any word: dictionary form, gender, IPA, translation
  • Grammar labels for tenses, moods and clauses

STEP 02

Collect: the words you read become yours

One tap saves a word together with the sentence you found it in. Or add every content word in an article at once.

  • Saved with its original sentence
  • Bulk-add a whole article
  • SM-2 spaced repetition schedules reviews

STEP 03

Practise: every drill uses your words

Flashcards, dictation, cloze writing and grammar drills draw only on words you saved. No surprise vocabulary: you practise exactly what you just read.

  • SRS flashcards, from meaning or audio
  • Dictation shows exactly which letters you missed
  • ~70 grammar sub-skills; 5 in a row to master one

STEP 04

Read again: meet it in a new context

Your next reading deliberately reuses the words you're learning. A word becomes yours after you've met it in a few different sentences.

  • New readings favour words you're learning
  • Progress tracked per sub-skill
  • ETA to B1 / B2 from your real pace

Step 4 is step 1 of the next round: the more you read, the better the next text fits you.

Why reading

You don't memorize a language. You read your way in.

Language-acquisition research calls it comprehensible input: you learn fastest from text you mostly understand, with a little just out of reach. Too hard and you give up on the dictionary; too easy and nothing new sticks.

Too easyYou know every word, so nothing new sticks
Just right · i+190% familiar, 10% new: readable, and you still learnEvery Mille-Mots reading lands here
Too hardA dictionary trip every line; you quit by paragraph two

Gender you can see.

Nouns are coloured by gender and shown with their article, so le/la or der/die/das sticks with the word. Glosses in English or Chinese.
